Things I Eat

7 notes

July 27, 2011 [New York Experience: Day 8 - Part 1/2]

lazy last day with just my parents
just walked a little further than usual
we got a bit hungry while walking and my mom wanted to eat at this one cafe place called Pret.
We walked in and I saw a few people who looked like local business people in there just having lunch and they ate it deliciously. Like this one lady was just tearing at her wrap and this one man was omnomnoming his salad. Healthy and delicious mang.
When you first enter, on the left side is like an open fridge of just whatever they made and you bring it up to the counter and pay. In the fridgey thingy, they had a bunch of light things you could eat like subs, sandwiches, soups, salads and all that good stuff. On top of that, they had some interesting drinks like flavoured water and organic juice. They also have a variety of drinks they can make for you like tea, espresso, coffee etc.etc.

"Just Made"

"Just Made" means a fresh kitchen in every Pret.
It means fragile, preservative-free ingredients which go off quickly.
We don’t mind that natural food goes bad. Actually, we like it.

"Just Made" means no horrid chemicals, no sell by dates and no commissaries.

"Just Made" guarantees an old fashioned approach, a common

sense attitude to good food and a healthy respect for Pret’s
wonderful staff and demanding customers.

"Just Made" means "Just Pret" and that’s

where the story begins and ends.

iced chai tea and a sub

i think it says sparking grape juice
gah why did it focus on the guy in the background instead of the food >__>
But the Falafel and red pepper fajita was yummy

I walked into this place craving some kind of wrap but when I saw this soup, I just had to try it. I don’t even know why. It was like calling me from the shelf with all its minty green pea loving goodness. I’ll tell you right now I love the colour it is. I even have that colour painted on my nails right now. I love peas and I sure as hell love mint. I gave in and got this thing and I have no regrets. It’s not the greatest thing in the world but it’s still really good. The mint wasn’t overwhelming and it blended with the peas really well. The only thing I didn’t like about this soup was the texture because it was still kinda clumpy from the peas.. kinda wish they blended it some more but oh well. I’m definitely gonna try to make this some time~

Adding strange ingredients to turn this into a ‘health enhancing tonic’ sounded like an odd idea. So we didn’t. We added nothing. NO aspartame, NO high fructose corn syrul, NO potassium sorbate. NOTHING at all. It won’t make you run faster, jump higher or think quicker. It’s still water with a splash of real fruit. PURE and SIMPLE. NATURALLY.

BEST WHEN CHILLED (as indeed we all are)

this place is really awesome. They’re healthy, organic and their portions are actually normal. The writing on their products are awesome too. Oh what a lovely place to eat~
